The most important lawn tennis tournaments

Good morning everyone from Slazenger Heritage, vintage sportswear store! Today we would like to take a look at the most popular lawn tennis tournaments around the world, have you ever heard something about them?

Why the lawn tennis courts are special?

The grass offers less resistance to the bouncing of the ball, therefore the ball is less likely to bounce higher than on other fields. Moreover, the attacking game at the net predominates, and this is the main difference compared to other types of court.

Wimbledon

Wimbledon takes place in London, and goes by the name of “the tennis cathedral”, where all the best players are gathered by the “All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club”. One of the most characteristic rules of the tournament is that all the participants have to wear white clothes during the match.

Do you know the reason for wearing white clothes at Wimbledon? In the 19th century, tennis players wore white at Wimbledon to hide sweat stains. While wearing others colors, the sweet stains were more visible, and it was considered improper, mostly for women, to sweat in public.

How to wear at lawn tennis courts?

If you’re heading to the lawn tennis courts, you want to make sure you’re dressed appropriately while also looking stylish. Here are some tips on how to wear Slazenger Heritage tennis sweaters to make a statement on the court:

  • Opt for classic and comfortable pieces: Tennis is a physically demanding sport, so comfort should be your top priority. Classic pieces like the Tennis Sweater Number 3 are made from a naturally insulating extrafine merino wool-blend, ensuring you stay warm and comfortable throughout the match.
  • Dress for the weather: It’s essential to dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the day of the match. On cooler days, the Tennis Legend Number 2 is a great option as its double tipping in the collar and cuffs will keep you warm.
  • Add a touch of style: While comfort is key, it’s also important to add a touch of style to your tennis outfit. The Tennis Legend Number 1 in both white and navy feature a round neck design and the iconic Slazenger vintage logo knitted-intarsia at the front.
  • Choose the right colours: When it comes to tennis, white is the traditional colour of choice. But, if you want to make a statement, consider opting for the off-white or navy colour options.
  • Accessorize wisely: Complete your tennis look with a pair of comfortable sneakers and a hat to keep the sun out of your eyes.

No matter which style you choose, Slazenger Heritage’s Tennis Legend jumpers are sure to turn heads on the lawn tennis courts. Each jumper is a celebration of the rich history between Slazenger and lawn tennis, and the perfect way to elevate your tennis wardrobe.
