Real Club Valderrama
Real Club Valderrama is world famous. It is well known as an excellent place to play, having hosted the Ryder Cup in 1997 under the guidance of Spanish captain Seve Ballesteros. Always in absolutely fabulous conditions, this wonderful golf course is situated in the exclusive urbanization of Sotogrande in the eastern part of the province of Cadiz.
Valderrama offers traveling golfers the opportunity to enjoy a world class and very famous course. Although increasingly facing competition as Spain’s number one golf course, Valderrama still occupies a unique place in the pantheon of world-class golf courses, thanks to the combination of golf and leisure it offers. We can conclusively say that it is considered number one in the list of the best golf courses in Spain.
PGA Catalunya Golf Resort
Located near the historic city of Girona, just northeast of Barcelona, is the incredible PGA Catalunya Resort course.
Many golfers find the Tour Course challenging and certainly worth playing. But it is on the Stadium Course that many golfers have had to bring their A-game to cope with this marvel of a golf course.
In all areas, the Stadium Course is difficult (length, elevation changes, rough type and length, bunkers and finally greens) and you know that when you finish 6 strokes over your handicap on the tournament scorecard, you’ve done well.
But, don’t be discouraged! Just saying that you survived such a difficult golf course with your sense of humor and your golf clubs intact should be enough to make you visit again, because this really is an amazing golf course. That’s why the very unique Catalunya Golf Resort takes a well-deserved second place on the list of best golf courses in Spain.
Real Club Sevilla Golf
Real Club Sevilla Golf is a favorite for family golf. It allows you to combine a visit to the club with a stay in the beautiful old town of Seville. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy the best that this part of Andalucía has to offer. The golf course is fairly flat and a relatively easy walk. But the challenge lies in the length of some of the holes which culminate in slick, undulating greens. These greens offer subtle slopes throughout, making putting the main element of play.
Finding the green could be considered the easy part of the round here at Real Club Sevilla. But the lack of accuracy in putting the ball into the hole when it is on the green can be the undoing of many golfers of all levels. In the list of best golf courses in Spain, this family friendly golf course could not be missed.
Finca Cortesin Golf Club
With elevation changes along the course that are probably unique anywhere in Europe, the golf course at Finca Cortesin is a fantastic but accessible challenge for most golfers with sub-20 handicaps. And higher handicap players will also enjoy the course. Fortunately, buggies are usually included with all green fees at Finca Cortesin.
As a good golf resort the experience is a true 5 star day out. From the pyramid of balls on the elevated tees of the driving range, to the service of the friendly staff.
The excellent maintenance of the course and the wonderful views from many of the holes. Finishing on a run of tremendous enclosed holes and the comfort and welcome of the luxurious clubhouse. Finca Cortesin is well worth a visit, and furthermore, highly recommended! All of this good stuff leads up to a deserved fourth place in the list of best golf courses in Spain.
The Reserve Golf Club
La Reserva de Sotogrande golf course is located in the exclusive golfing enclave of the Sotogrande estate. Which boasts a wealth of world-class golf courses on the eastern edge of the province of Cadiz.
Easily accessible from Gibraltar or Malaga, La Reserva boasts a superbly maintained golf course and wonderful practice facilities. As well as a beautiful Andalusian clubhouse for all visiting golfers to enjoy. The buggy is always included at La Reserva, and more than once you will need it. Because there are some important walks and hills to top off this fantastic golf course. Which is why La Reserva had to be on the list of the best golf courses in Spain!
